The practice of homeopathy is based on an observation called the law of similars. What this means, in simple terms, is that what a substance can cause, it can cure.
This system holds that every person or animal has a “vital” force which works to keep him or her healthy by maintaining a normal balance of all the systems in the body, mind and spirit. Homeopathy defines all disease, whether physical, mental or emotional, acute or chronic, as derangements of the vital force in its attempt to restore balance. This vital force can usually restore balance without outside assistance. When it cannot, when it struggles to restore balance and is unable, serious acute or chronic disease may ensue.
To assist this vital force in restoring balance, a homeopath selects a remedy which would create the same symptoms in a healthy person or animal. The homeopathic remedy induces the vital force to finish the direction it has taken in the cure of the disease, the unraveling of its own symptoms, and the restoration of balance. It is important to remember that in chronic cases it will usually take time to restore the animal to health and you will need to dedicate the time and energy to affect a cure.
